"If it weren’t for the people who donate plasma on a regular basis, I probably wouldn't be the same happy person, fulfilling myself in every aspect of my life."
Iza , living with a primary immune disease
My name is Iza, I am 24 and I am a patient with a Primary Immunodeficiency (PID). My symptoms, such as recurrent severe infections unresponsive to conventional treatment and often requiring hospitalization, as well as tiredness and general feeling of being unwell, began when I was just a child. At the age of 16, during my high school, I was diagnosed with antibodies deficiency. You may ask – “were you afraid?”. Yes, I was, but on the other hand, first time ever someone told me the reason behind my health problems, and what is even more important, that they can help me. Since that day I have been regularly using immunoglobulin replacement therapy at home. I cannot find the words to describe how my life has changed. Now I am able to fulfill my dreams, play sports and have a social life.
Thanks to help from some amazing people, one day I will be able to help the others – I am a Medical University student. Since the time of diagnosis, I have been involved in activities for other patients with PID in Poland, I try to support them and find some solutions with the difficulties they struggle. Currently I am the vice president of the Immunoprotect Association’s Board. If it weren’t for the people who donate plasma on a regular basis, I probably wouldn't be the same happy person, fulfilling myself in every aspect of my life. Dear donors, please remember that what you are doing is priceless, that your gift cannot be replaced by anything created in a laboratory, that you are giving many people a chance for the life they want to live!
